FilmFlex is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Television and The Walt Disney Company. The company has active movie content supply deals with over 30 distributors, including all of the Hollywood major studio and the UKs leading independent distributors. FilmFlex currently operates services with Virgin Media, Channel 4, HMV and EE and is negotiating with several other potential partners for expansion onto a variety of devices and territories in 2013.
FilmFlex has managed Virgin Media’s movies-on-demand service on its cable network (now to over 3.7 million homes) since it launched in 2005. FilmFlex has devised and implemented a range of customer promotions which have driven buy rates to amongst the highest in the industry. Marketing is carried out co-operatively with our platform and licensing partners. Our in-house team create a huge range of promotional material to help maximise the sales potential of our content.
With over eight years of experience and insight in the on demand space, FilmFlex are experts in reaching a range of different target audiences and extracting optimal value from a diverse spectrum of content. We know how to package, promote and ultimately sell films.
In the last three years, the company has developed an online platform with leading technology partners including Kit Digital and Encompass Digital Media (formerly Ascent Media). After extensive consumer research, this online platform launched services as Virgin Media Movies Online in April 2010, Film4oD in October 2010 and hmvon-demand in November 2011. For these white-label services, FilmFlex manages a turn-key online solution covering the website and platform operation, all content management, billing and customer service. In October 2012 we launched EE Film, which offers cinema listings and information about theatrical releases, as well as our usual VOD offering. FilmFlex’s white label services currently have more new movies to rent than iTunes, Lovefilm, Blinkbox or Netflix.
